Tournament Rules
Know the game. Play to win.
Format
- 2 players per team
- Single elimination tournament
- Each round: first to 5 books or highest score after 30 minutes wins
- Final round: first to 7 books wins
Gameplay
- Standard 52-card deck
- Spades are always trump
- Players must follow suit if possible
- If unable to follow suit, any card may be played
No Bidding
- No formal bidding required
- No table talk or signaling allowed
Cutting Rules
- No double cutting allowed
- Only one cut per trick
- Violations may result in penalty or loss of round
Scoring
- First to 5 books wins the round
- If time expires, highest score wins
- Final round is first to 7 books
Reneging
- Failure to follow suit when able = reneging
- Automatic loss of the round
- Opposing team is awarded 3 books
Conduct
- Respect all players and staff
- No cheating, arguing, or disruptive behavior
- Host decisions are final
Late Arrivals
- 5-minute grace period
- Failure to show = automatic forfeit
Prizes
- Cash prizes awarded to winners
- Prize pool based on total entries
- Must show ID to claim prize
General
- Entry means you agree to all rules
- Must be 25+ to attend or participate
- Spades After Dark™ may remove any player at any time
